The Next Generation Extreme Service Heavy Duty Wheel (NEXGEN-ESHD)

Known in the shop as the "Bolted Beast", this next generation advanced wheel is designed for long term service in extreme operational conditions under heavy loads for applications such as underground mining shuttle car service. We are so confident in the extraordinary quality and advanced design features of this wheel that the workmanship is under warranty against defects for one million tons or five years, whichever comes first. Designed exclusively for use with urethane fill core and permafoam tires, it represents a significant advance in safety, strength, and fit.

INCREASED SAFETY

This is the safest wheel made for underground mine use. Specifically designed to increase personnel safety during operational and maintenance tasks, the NEXGEN-ESHD wheel has no flanges and no lock-rings. It has no separate lock rings that could fly off during operation or when mounting or dismounting the wheel. Oversized counter-bores allow the use of impact sockets rather than standard sockets to ensure maximum recommended torque down on the mounting bolts. Furthermore, the bolts joining the mating halves of the wheel cannot be accidentally mistaken for the hub mounting bolts because the wheel is designed so the bolts mating the wheel halves are on the back face of the mounting plate. This configuration ensures that only hub mounting bolts can be removed when the wheel is installed on the machine.

GUARANTEED NOT TO BREAK

The NEXGEN-ESHD wheel is designed with a rim center point that is more than twice as thick as currently available "fabricated" wheels. The mid point of the wheel is 0.63" thick as compared to 0.3" centers that are common on standard 20" x 10" wheel designs that are currently on the market. In addition, this is the only mine wheel made with 5 degree tapers on both bead seats for maximum tire support under heavy load. This combination of design advances increases wheel load capacity by 20% to 50% over standard design wheels.

The NEXGEN-ESHD wheel is designed to fit the standard 28 degree JOY hub. No alterations are needed to switch standard wheels to the NEXGEN-ESHD. It is designed to be a truly "reusable" wheel that will far outlast the service lifecycle of the host machine.

The Dual Wheel Extreme Service Heavy Duty Wheel Assembly (DUAL-ESHD)

This advanced wheel assembly is lightweight and very rugged. It is tubeless with a rating of 150 to 180 PSI and is designed to function in extreme operational environments with a minimum of downtime. The reliability of the design requires little, if any, maintenance and, consequently, can be integrated into ongoing operations without a significant decrease in productivity. In fact, if the DUAL-ESHD is replacing less reliable standard design wheels, then we expect our customers to see an increase in productivity as a result of decreased vehicle downtime.
